I am pleased to offer professional 35mm slide scanning services on a Nikon Super COOLSCAN 5000 ED slide/film scanner. The cost for Premium scanning is $5 per slide.
You may have seen these services offered for less than 25 cents per slide at various high-volume service providers—my service differs in that a dedicated professional is handling your treasured slides from start to finish, eyeing the results of each step rather than using an automated script to paint each individual slide with the same broad brush. Can they really give your slide hands-on attention for a mere 25 cents? I am doubtful and you should be too. This service is intended for discerning photographers who care more about the final representation of their work than bottom-barrel discounts.
Should you wish to handle the post-processing on your own and simply need the high-fidelity raw file sent to you, I provide a Standard scanning option for $1 per slide.
Slides are scanned at 4000 dpi with all built-in image enhancements set to off in the scanning software except for Nikon's Digital ICE technology which does a tremendous job of removing any dust and scratches. The output is saved as a Nikon raw file (.NEF) which preserves an accurate digital copy of the slide for long-term archiving.
The raw file is also imported into Photoshop where standard dark-room processing techniques are employed in order to enhance the contrast and colors. After any obvious defects are retouched, an innovative frequency separation sharpening techique is used to create the best possible representation of your slide. What you will receive on your DVD is the raw file (.NEF), Photoshop file (.PSD) & any other file formats you request, such as jpeg or tiff.
XMP metadata (keywords, titles & copyright information) can be embedded using Photoshop at your request.

This option produces the same high-quality digital scan as the Premium service but you don't get the color-corrected Photoshop file or other types of output. It is for do-it-yourselfers who have their own post-processing workflow but need ouput from a high-end scanner.
This is a bespoke service and it can be tailored to your needs. Please get in touch if you need something in between the two offerings and together we can devise a custom workflow to suit—often for little or no additional charge. For instance, you may desire an S-curve be automatically applied to enhance the contrast out of the scanner or want your scans made without Nikon's Digital ICE technology enabled.
